Dr. Melanie Spence-Ariemma
Steering Committee Member
Melanie serves as the Vice-Provost and Chief Academic Officer at the University of Guelph-Humber. Previously, she was the Dean of Student Affairs at the Michener Institute of Education at the University Health Network in Toronto. Prior to that, she was the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) at Sheridan College and held professor roles at various institutions. Dr. Spence-Ariemma has led and collaborated on pan-institutional and interdisciplinary initiatives, having managed complex projects with multiple stakeholders, including program moves and IT systems projects. Moreover, Dr. Spence-Ariemma holds a PhD in Leadership and Policy from New York’s Niagara University; an MA in community college education from Central Michigan University; a B.Ed. in adult education from Brock University; an M.R.T., radiation therapy, from the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre; and a B.Sc. from McMaster University. With knowledge and experience acquired from a range of sectors, she is well-equipped to facilitate the execution of both academic and operational projects. Her goal is to inspire and empower the future leaders of tomorrow to continually grow, innovate, and learn throughout their lifetimes. |
Dr. George Bragues

George is Associate Vice-Provost, Academic at the University of Guelph-Humber and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Guelph. He has published op-ed pieces in Canada’s Financial Post, as well as a variety of scholarly articles and reviews in journals such as The Journal of Business Ethics, Qualitative Research in Financial Markets, The Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics, The Independent Review, History of Philosophy Quarterly, Episteme, and Business Ethics Quarterly. Dr. Bragues holds a PhD in Political Science from Boston College, a Master of Business Administration from York University, a Master of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto. |

Caroline Grech
Steering Committee Member
Caroline serves as the Head of Communications and Public Affairs at the University of Guelph-Humber. She also serves as Vice-Chair on the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chairs its Government Relations Committee. Her career has spanned across media, public affairs, communications, journalism, and government relations. Previously, she was the Associate Director, External Relations and Public Affairs for Seneca Polytechnic. Caroline has excelled in a variety of roles including, overseeing the communications, government relations and events teams. Prior to joining Seneca, Caroline worked in government relations at the Canadian Automobile Association. |
