

About the Team
Chanel LOWERY. Chanel, born and raised in Tokyo, is a third-year BBA student, double majoring in Finance & Risk Management and Digital Marketing. She serves as Director of Chapter Finance and Chair of Marketing & PR for Sigma Sigma Sigma, where she oversees financial operations and leads strategic branding initiatives. Her professional experience includes face-to-face sales, digital content strategy, and micro-influencer marketing for St. Mary’s University. Looking ahead, Chanel aims to build greater exposure in the finance industry and pursue professional opportunities in Japan after graduation, leveraging her global perspective, financial expertise, and creative skill set to drive impactful marketing and business results.
Marie CULBRETH. Born and raised in Houston, Marie is a third-year student double majoring in Finance & Risk Management and Business Management at St. Mary’s University. She has been part of several case competition teams, most recently as a part of the winning HSI Battle of the Brains team. She serves on the Student Leadership Team of the Marianist Leadership Program, where she oversees service opportunities for program members. Marie enjoys giving back to her community through participation in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and will be joining USAA this summer as a Product Management intern.
Bernhard HAUER. Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Bernhard is a fourth-year student majoring in Finance & Risk Management with a minor in economics. He is also a member of the St. Mary’s men’s Tennis program, where he was part of the All-Academic conference team in 2025. He interned in several financial departments during his time in Austria, where he learned hands-on experience that he plans to incorporate in his future career after graduation.
Isabella MARTINEZ. Born and raised in San Antonio, Isabella is a senior at St. Mary’s University, double majoring in Finance & Risk Management and Management. She has held multiple student leadership roles and is actively involved in several campus organizations, including the Greehey Scholars Program, a highly regarded professional development business program, and Gamma Iota Sigma, the international risk management and insurance society. Isabella recently completed a Summer Leadership Development Program internship with Munich Re’s Global Specialty Insurance Corporate Underwriting team in New York City. She is passionate about continuous learning, collaboration, and solving complex business challenges, and plans to begin her career in risk consulting and brokerage after graduation, having accepted a full-time offer with Marsh in New York City.
- Barclay JAMES (Coach). Barclay is Associate Professor of International Business and Strategic Management at the Greehey School of Business, where he has taught since 2018. He previously held positions at Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Louisiana State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research examines how host-country investment policies and political systems shape investment decisions by multinationals. He has published in leading journals including Organization Science and Journal of International Management.
- Jeffrey JOHNSON (Coach). Jeff is a Professor of International Business and Director of the Center for Global Business Studies at St. Mary’s University. He holds a Ph.D. in International Business from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He has extensive professional, entrepreneurial, consultancy, and international teaching experience. His research interests include international strategy, entrepreneurship, and global supply chain management. He is also a board member of the Network of International Business Schools.
